Father's Day Ice Cream Social

After worship with music by the Pilgrimen with FredO and AJ we enjoyed hot dogs and ice cream at our annual Father's Day Social. We also signed cards of greeting and care for some Pilgrim members we don't often see. Here are pictures (but none of the Pilgrimen as the photographer was singing).

Creation and Giants

In a worship service punctuated by selections from Haydn's Creation with accompaniment by strings and flute with piano, we learned to honor the giants on whose shoulders we stand even as we honored our recent graduates.  Click on the picture for more.

Songs of Africa at Pilgrim

With traveler's Advisory Warnings in place, we canceled worship... but folks showed up anyway.  The fifteen who did shared a shortened worship.  We didn't get all of Allen's sermon but he recorded the whole thing and Mark Barnett has made it available from the Pilgrim Web page.

Mark's Installation

I have heard from many discerning colleagues that the Service of Installation was quite wonderful.  I am, of course, biased.  Cheryl Watts lifted her voice, FredO showed what our magnificent organ can do, Allen was witty and welcoming, Mary M. and Joan B-R brought items for the reception and many hands pitched in to make a wonderful event.

I am especially grateful to Rev. Betsy Happel of Kirkwood UCC who preached and to Rev. Dr. Marc A. Wessels, Associate Conference Minister, and Jane Porchey and Karen Miller, co-chairs of the Committee on the Ministry who were present to conduct the installation.
